If we look back two years on restarted work in SE Asia by Bohde, who had been the CLC missionary in Thailand for some years, we see the progress. Starting Nov. 6, ’15 studies were held with several Hmong from Thailand. Laos Hmong were not able to come across the border. Although Mark Bohde is doing this independent work outside the CLC, we should still be interested that the truth of the Word is being taught. I have read the syllabus and it is completely biblical. We have put the most recent Hmong translation of “A Simple Gospel Presentation” on our website lutheranmissions.org.

The most recent report on this work was February of 2017 when Bohde reported on the work. ” I devoted my time to training pastors and leaders primarily from Laos. Others wanted to come again but I restrict the conferences to new attendees, because there are so many requests coupled with the cost of housing and food. Since they had not studied it yet, we studied the book on God’s Word. I have already sent you a copy of that one. The camp we studied at was about 30 kilometers from the Lao border in Nan Province, Thailand. It was so much nicer than I anticipated. The Lord blessed His Word abundantly. The students (even though they are pastors and teachers) have very little knowledge of God’s Word. What knowledge they have is often in error. I praise the Lord for this opportunity. My goal is to build them in God’s clear Word. Because of that I will probably write and teach them about Justification. It appears that this central subject of Christianity is not clear to them. I have also been asked to do this.”

God-willing he will make his next trip soon. If you would like an itinerary of where he will be teaching, you can contact him directly at comabo.consolidated.net. That would enable you to pray for where and when the classes are held. It might not be good to put out on our website the where and when as Christian teaching by foreigners in Vietnam is still frowned upon. For the upcoming trip he reports this:
“I will be holding training seminars for pastors and leaders in Southeast Asia from October 1 to October 31. Students from Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam will attend. The purpose is to train them in what the Word clearly says so that their faith and instruction of others would agree with God’s Word. As Paul writes,

Eph 4:11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,
Eph 4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
Eph 4:13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fulness of Christ.
Eph 4:14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves, and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;
Eph 4:15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the head, even Christ,

Please pray for this work. Mark Bohde”
