Outreach in ‘Saigon’/HCM City, Vietnam – From the Field – Jan. 14,2017
This comes from Mark Bohde who is doing independent work in Vietnam.
“God blessed His Word abundantly in every place we taught. Ho Chi Minh City was no different. As you can see from the enclosed list, we had mostly pastors with a couple of women leaders. Almost all of them came from Dak Lak Province. We will try to go there when we meet again. Please do not broadcast this information, either names or pictures, publicly. Even though Christianity is legal in Vietnam, it is dangerous to openly promote it. I don’t want the students to suffer harassment or persecution. For example, both in Hanoi and HCM City, we had to split up when we went to the houses where we held the conferences. We were told that we could have trouble if the neighbors noticed. They locked the entry door after everyone arrived. In both cases we used third floor rooms in which to hold our gatherings.
God’s Word was received with enthusiasm and great gratitude to the Lord. Like Hanoi, they begged us to come at least four times a year. Also, like Hanoi, everyone agreed to go and teach others what they had learned. On the last day some of the men asked for prayers, which we were happy to do. On the last day of the conference in HCM City, Montree (my translator) got a phone call from some pastors in an area called Sa Pa, which is close to the Chinese border. They heard about the conference in Hanoi and formed a group of 15. They asked if we could come and teach them. We had to decline this time, but if God is willing, we will go there next time. Perhaps God will cause His Word to go into China as well as Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam through one or more of the students.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support. We need our Lord’s strength and protection. … Satan and his demons are quite active. … This is the third of three reports on Nan Province in Thailand, and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Blessings, Mark”
